We all know that education is a key to success, and in the case of breast cancer it can be the key to a woman's life. Breast cancer patients have a 96% chance of five-plus year survival if the cancer is caught in an early stage — usually through self or spousal awareness, mammography, or a clinical exam. However, mammography rates are declining in the population that needs them most regularly — women over 40. In Vermont, only 65% of breast cancers are detected in early stage and that number isn't nearly high enough. Women need to have the knowledge and the tools to make choices that help keep them healthy and alive.
For the past 11 years, the Breast Cancer Conference has brought together experts in education and research, care and community, support and survivorship, for a free and informative day that reaches as many Vermont women as we can with important information about their health.
Please make a difference and help patients in Vermont "Survive & Thrive" by supporting the Vermont Cancer Center.
